Pentacles

Ace of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Prosperity, Material Comfort, Safety, Windfall, Conventional

Upright:

New ideas rich in the foundations of things tangibly manifested are all around. Stop long enough to see them, walk through the garden, and as they say, “smell the roses” and enjoy the freshness of thought that’s coming.

This ace asks us to take those ideas that are coming and manifest them in the material world. Set your intentions and get moving with the energy of this ace.

There could be an influx of fresh ideas today where stability and security are concerned. Consider harnessing these ideas and the energy they bring. Get something solid done about them so you have a good sense of accomplishment.

Reversed:

Making things happen may be harder than originally thought today.  Financial roadblocks may arise, and it may be hard to keep pour good intentions moving ahead.  Relax.  It’s not necessarily a permanent roadblock.  Just a time to rethink what’s actually possible.

2 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Agility, Concentration, Flow, Balance, Unstable Conditions

Upright:

Money decisions always come with emotional attachments, and ingrained attitudes about money. The same can be said when weighing decisions about material property, well established ideals or weighing pros and cons. All of this is viewed through emotional and attitudinal filters before decisions are made. Just because our emotional/attitudinal self might think something is bad, doesn’t mean it is. Sometimes those terrible ideas become the very thing that propels us to new heights. Be mindful of how you’re making decisions. Don’t cling to one idea just because you always have. Likewise, don’t turn down a good opportunity just because it isn’t wrapped in pretty paper.

Reversed:

The balance has been lost, our ideas seem to be going nowhere, and suddenly, we’re drowning in the things we used to be able to juggle with ease.  Consider today what might be that one responsibility too many.  Can you still keep it all moving?

3 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Plan, Cooperation, Meaningful Work, Competence, Brotherhood

Upright:

Being on the right path, and including the right people in what we are trying to accomplish is vital to our success. The plan will coming together, and manifestation isn’t far away.

When you develop a plan, and follow it through to completion, whether it’s work related, or creatively inspired, there is a feeling of completion, of accomplishment. You can see fruition, and people sit up and notice the results. Where do you need to make that sort of plan? Where have you already accomplished something? When people notice your work, creative or otherwise, do you allow that recognition to fortify your self-confidence?

Reversed:

Plans seem to fall apart or be faulty at the most inopportune times!  Things won’t coalesce the way we thought and frustrations run high because the impact isn’t just on us, but on others as well.  Now is the time to see about plan B.  Regroup.  Reconsider.  Your flexibility is being tested.

4 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Earthly Power, Control, Self-protection, Rigidity, Self-sufficient

Upright:

Generally known as the miser card, it seems to be all about protection of the self and thoughts about money or possessions. But, it’s also about feeling secure – financially, emotionally and spiritually. So, today, take stock of where you’re feeling secure and where you’re not. Maybe it’s time to shore up in those places where we feel vulnerable.

Sometimes we have to close ourselves off to recuperate, recharge, re-energize. We need to spend some of our hard earned money on ourselves. Isolation isn’t always bad – as long as it doesn’t become the norm!

Sometimes it takes a single-minded focus to get things accomplished. With that, though, can come blindness to other needs in life. The end-game might not be so appealing if you’ve left everything other than it behind, like friends, family, happiness, and peace. Be careful that you don’t shut everything else out to the point that all you’re left with is the prize.

Reversed:

Though it may seem counterproductive, now is not the time to be so tight and guarded with our resources.  Reach out and off to share.  See what can be done with other’s input.   Expand.

5 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Hardship, Rejection, Poverty Thinking, Shelter, Shared Suffering

Upright:

Sometimes we can’t see the resolution to our problems/issues even though they are staring us in the face. This can leave us feeling abandoned, isolated and alone. When you come to those places, the journey seems to be worthless. It’s not. Ask for objective help. Have faith it will come.

Reversed

We’ve all had those moments where we’ve felt lost, alone, left out or down and out. The reasons matter, but not nearly as much as what we do about it. When this card shows up reversed, it’s time to reach out for help. It’s time to accept that we cannot make the changes, or create the headway needed, in any kind of isolation.

6 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

The capacity to give/ the ability to receive; Generosity/ Want; Domination/Submission

Upright:

Moving into a positive money phase. The importance of all forms of generosity. Also, willingness to receive and be grateful.

Generosity needs to be humbly received and given. This can be money, emotion, talent, ability, time. This doesn’t mean that we must over extend in any area of generosity. It needs to be balanced against what is best both for the giver and the receiver. If generosity is offered, don’t over receive, and if you’re able to be generous, be so within reason.

Reversed:

Learning to give without strings and accept without restrictions. Giving selflessly, not only of money, but of the self, emotions, laughter, patience, love, etc. and likewise being able to receive that which is given without questioning it or feeling as though you must reciprocate it.

There are many of us who have a difficult time receiving. It doesn’t matter if it’s a compliment or if it’s an offer to buy us lunch, we tend to down play or refuse others’ generosity. Today, if it’s offered, graciously accept it and be thankful for the abundance that allowed the other person to be generous.

7 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Patience; Persistence; Rest and Reflection (the work is done, everything has come to full bloom)

Upright:

This card is a clear indication that manifestation isn’t about sitting around wishing. Manifestation comes through the work you do along with the intentions you set. Then the abundance flows. Once it does, take time to enjoy it, recognize it, and re-evaluate it. The work isn’t over – but everything is set for a bumper crop!

Abundance of your own making. The hard work has been done, and now the crop is hearty and abundant. Step back. Look at it. How did you get here? What did you learn? Can it be applied elsewhere to create the same kind of abundance? Take a short break and reflect, meditate, much has been given – and much is expected.

Reversed:

Sometimes there really is no rest for the weary. Sometimes when we stop and review we see that where we’ve been investing our time, money or energy isn’t paying off.  Or it turns out not to be what truly leaves us feeling rejuvenated, doesn’t yield a good return, and sometimes is downright draining.  There are times when we actually need to cut our losses and walk away.  At the very minimum, today is a day to re-evaluate and reconsider where we’ve been, and where we’re headed.

8 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Hard work; Striving for mastery; Day-job, looking at what works and applying it to the future

Upright:

Continuous improvement leads the way to a better life situation. Perfection does not – only because there is no such thing, and feeling as though you must be perfect is limiting to all the possibilities! Time to be extraordinary!

The work may not be glamorous, but getting the job done right, by the right people, will make you a rock star.

There comes a point in life where you’ve prepared enough and it’s time to get on with it. The 8 suggests that point has arrived. It’s time to capitalize on what you’re good at, what you’re passionate about and start earning the rewards of it, be those rewards monetary or fulfilling or both.

Reversed

We’ve all gotten caught up in something, put a lot of work, time and effort into it, and then realized, wait a minute! This isn’t really what I want to do! This isn’t fulfilling my dreams! What on EARTH was I thinking? No need to fret too much about it. There was still a reason for all that time and effort. Even if it was just to show you what you didn’t want or to help you hone a particular skill set that will be incredibly advantageous on your next endeavor. We come to our paths at all points, some early, some late. Now that you know you’re not where you need to be, don’t be so resistant to change that you don’t right your course.

9 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Discipline; Self-sufficiency; Financial Security, Control

Upright:

When we master something, we gain a certain level of confidence.  It gives us a different demeanor, and a different perspective.  It can lead to the kind of financial independence that gives us control over our lives in a way nothing else will.  We’re also in a better position to manifest the things we want in our lives, especially materially.  Take a look around and see where you have that level of confidence in something you do.  How can you build on it to make take your life to the next level?

Reversed:

The greater our dependency on others financially becomes, the less confident we tend to feel in our ability to take care of ourselves.  Consider where you’re feeling dependent in a financial way.  Are you there because it offers you good things?  Do you wish you were more independent?  Take stock of your abilities, and see where you might be able to turn your knowledge or mastery into something lucrative that offers you that confidence and security you may be lacking.

10 of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Traditions; Long-term solution; Creating a solid foundation  (taking less risk), Financial Security or Abundance

Upright:

Financial endeavors may be starting to pay off, but remember you have long term commitments.  Celebrate your good fortune within reason and enjoy your abundance and affluence.

Reversed:

Though you may be dying to get in on the ground floor some venture, the long term benefit may not be there.  Consult people you trust before committing your resources.  Be sure it’s a good investment that will have strong payoffs for a long time.

Page of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Practical, the most grounded Page, apprentice, meditation, change, shamanic journeys, focused. News of change, or about opportunities to increase income

Upright:

Start nurturing your big ideas about manifesting things in the material world. Strengthen your desire ad enthusiasm. Consider the process and see the work through – good news is coming!

Reversed:

Delays are keeping your projects from coming to fruition.  Brace yourself because you may also get some news of more delays or fewer resources than you might have been promised.  Don’t let this waver your focus.

Knight of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Steady and True, Profit and Lasting Accomplishments, Conservative/Boring, reserved, modest, practical, active

Upright:

If you want to have a garden, you have to go through all the steps, tilling the soil well, making the rows, planting the seeds, tending to the slips as they come up, weeding, watering, staking if needed, watching the plants bear fruit, waiting for the fruit to ripen before you pick it. It’s a process. It takes planning, patience, wherewithall, diligence and responsibility. It’s the same with any kind of endeavor in which you want to be successful. What do you need to be more methodical about? What plans do you need to make?

The time has come to be sure you get the details of work and life in order. Patience, persistence and reliability are the keys. When you stay focused, and handle the mundane, you won’t be so freaked out by the details that you miss the extraordinary when it happens. And it will happen.

Reversed:

The holding pattern is over. Spontaneity maybe the order of the day. Be open to change in areas that no longer nurture or support you physically or financially.

When things get delayed, and don’t come to fruition just when we think they will, we can lose our focus. We can become easily distracted by more flashy things, than waiting on something important. Be careful that you don’t let your focus get pulled to far away from what is practical, and what is actually achievable if you just give it the time it needs to grow.

Queen of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Nurturing, Practicality, Abundance/generosity, Domestic, Hands on manifestation, Child Birth

Upright:

When this woman shows up, she is the motherly type, and speaks to us of nurturing not only others in our lives, but ourselves. She asks us to think about the things that make us feel safe and secure and as though we are living in abundance. And not just that, but to recognize and enjoy that abundance on all the levels that we can. Not necessarily in terms of being over indulgent, but truly immersed in the knowing, the feeling, the doing of all things that are tangible, touchable, feeling and experiencing. She also asks that we put our arms around those who are in need and hold them with us in that abundance. She asks us to be truly present in our lives.

Reversed:

There is a difference between nurturing and smothering. We need to take a look at the things, or people, we’re clinging too tightly to. Take a look at those people we’re spending too much time trying to rescue. It may be time to re-evaluate and change the way we’re handing those types of situations. It may also be time to consider where we ARE being too hedonistic. This woman is incredibly practical, and now may be the time to get back in touch with that practicality.

King of Pentacles

Key concepts:

Leader (King), Practical Intelligence, Security

Upright:

When the King shows up, he’s asking us to either stop and enjoy the fruits of our labor or have we done the work we need to in order to enjoy the fruits later. (see comments for the rest). Time to take a look at the things in life that make us feel abundant, secure and be certain that we’re doing what we should. Roll the sleeves up, get the hands dirty – dig deep to be sure all the t’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted. If they are, then enjoy!

At the heart of this King still lies the knight he once was. The knight whose forethought and planning gave him the rewards he now reaps. But also the knight whose heart was still full of hope and vision. He could easily sit back and rest on the accomplishments of the past, but the knight inside him won’t let him. The message from this King today is that there is still, and will always be, work to be done, life to be lived. Don’t just dream about it, do it.

Time to take a look at the things in life that make us feel abundant, secure. If there’s not a plan in place to methodically continue to amass what we need to have and hold onto those feelings, then it’s time to roll our sleeves up and get our hands dirty. Dig deep to be sure all the t’s are crossed and the I’s are dotted. If they the plan is there, continue to work it. But – don’t forget that sharing that abundance, and enjoying it also need to be part of the plan!

Reversed:

If there is someone in your life who is a domineering workaholic, materialistic, self-centered & highly concerned about appearances-be wary of them today. Better yet, find a way to disconnect from that person. If not, then it’s time to look at our own attitudes toward money, materialism, work and appearances. Balance is the key, not obsession. Reconnect to the natural flow of things. Get in touch with Nature. May be time to get back to basics.
