Wands

Ace of Wands

Key Concepts:

Individual Effort, Intuition, Happiness, Enthusiasm and Passion, Self-assurance

Upright:

The flow from the source is strong; ideas worth putting passion into may be abundant. Feelings of aha moments spiritually may also be strong. Go with these things, but remember, passionate ideas still need work and feelings of spirituality still need to be nurtured and fed.

Reversed:

There may be a prevailing feeling of apathy.  Plans seem to be a bit lack luster.  This is a temporary situation.  It may be that a little downtime is just the ticket to resolving these setbacks.

2 of Wands

Key Concepts:

The way of risk or the way of security, Personal Power, Options, Courage, Originality

Upright:

When you’re in a helicopter hovering over an area, you have a grand view, an all-encompassing view. From that vantage point, you can see the patterns of the roads, the grid of a city, the flow of a river, movement of traffic on the highways. The 2 of Wands asks us to hover, see the bigger picture and the opportunities and weigh them for their own merits, then make an educated decision rather than a speculative guess.

Reversed:

Though careful consideration is always a good practice, if you’re not careful, it will paralyze you. It’s time to tack action.

If there was ever a card that said “Let go, and let God,” this is it. This card is the lesson of letting go. Resources have been rounded up, the messages have been sent. The movement has been put into play. Now it’s time to let go and let the Universe provide.Top of FormBottom of Form

Reversed:

Remember all those messages you put out to the Universe? The ones you whispered a prayer for and then released… maybe you’ve let them go so thoroughly you’ve forgotten them… Look for messages coming back to you about those things today. See what you might find. Something good is on its way back to you.

You’ve done your work up to this point, but now you’re hitting obstacles. People aren’t being as cooperative as you’d thought they would, you’ve set your goals too high, you’re feeling creatively blocked. Don’t worry. Set your sights on your highest good. Do the work and release the outcome. Good things are coming if you do.

When we “let go and let God” or “release the outcome,” things come back to us in unexpected ways. Sometimes we don’t even realize which investment the return is from. That’s part of the great cosmic mystery. Look today for returns, rejoice and be thankful for them, and don’t worry from where they come.

Key concepts:

Structured Energies, Ceremony and Ritual, Tradition, Celebration, Expectation

Upright:

Each step forward is worth noting. Though the work isn’t all done, the foundation has been laid. It’s time to celebrate and rejoice! Renew your passion for the project so the next steps will be taken with the same level of intensity and commitment.

The foundation of what you want is built, claim it! Light your creative home fire and celebrate the possibilities this foundation offers. Projects are coming to fruition, and those started now have a splendid chance of success. Romance may also be in the air!!

Reversed:

Traditional ideas about stability may not be working for you right now. Consider what helps you feel secure and happy, even if it isn’t conventional, and find your joy there. It might be more difficult than usual to find, but you can.

5 of Wands

Key concepts:

Competition, Discord, Setbacks, Hidden Motives, Risk

Upright:

Creative brainstorming. We tend to develop ideas in the vacuum of our own minds and experience. The 5 of Wands asks us to put the idea out there. Pull together a few folks whose opinions you respect and let them have a good go at your idea. The energy and creativity that will be brought to the table will be just the ticket. It might seem a bit chaotic, but take notes and sort the thoughts out later.

Reversed:

Debate and brainstorming can create lots of new ideas, but when the conversation is just Devil’s advocate for the sake of it, it’s not constructive. Before you engage your competitive nature today, consider if the situation really calls for it. Conflict for the sake of conflict isn’t always the best way to go.

6 of Wands

Key concepts:

Pride, celebration, accolades, winning

Upright:

Leading a celebration feels great doesn’t it?  Especially when you’re the guest of honor!  There’s definitely a time for congrats and pats on the back.  Enjoy the feelings of accomplishment.

Reversed:

Now it’s time to celebrate as a part of group.  Others, not just you, deserve credit and the accolades of a job well done.  Accept praise that comes your way, but more importantly, share praise with others who deserve it.

7 of Wands

Key concepts:

Conviction, having the high ground, defiance, resistance

Upright:

Are you over-reacting to something? Are you so passionate that you’ve lost sight of the ground you already have? True enough your boundaries need to be protected, and your dreams fostered, just remember you don’t have to be evangelistic in your approach.

Do you really believe in what you’ve fought so hard for, or to achieve? You’d better, because the challenges are not over. Just because you’ve partially or wholly arrived doesn’t mean you get to rest on your laurels.

It’s time to stand up for yourself and your beliefs. Your boundaries are safely set, and you stand on high ground. There maybe those who would threaten your stance, but these may only be “perceived” threats, and not real threats. So, before you allow yourself to feel overwhelmed or act defensively, look closely and be sure your actions are warranted.

Emotional reactions to challenges rarely help us in the long run, but passion can. In order maintain our stand, we must continue to be passionate about what we believe or want to do. When we lose the passion, we generally lose those who might follow us because they see apathy. Remember today what makes you passionate about what you’re doing or who you’re with.

Reversed:

Sometimes we succumb to the will of others.  We become so overwhelmed by the barrage against us that we collapse.  Remember, it’s not always appropriate to fight, or be the one loud voice.  Sometimes it’s better to work from within, than without.

8 of Wands

Key concepts:

Movement both seen and unseen, news, things settling down, love coming to land, thing that are in the air coming to rest.

Upright:

This is a card of energetic movement. The questions, requests, works sent out into the Universe are swiftly on their way to resolution or fruition. Take a breath and see what is coming forward today. If it’s moving fast and hard, move with it, or get out of its way – it’s going to land one way or another.

You’ve cast your lot out to the Universe, and now the answer is quickly arriving. A project, a decision, an idea, a seed planted is about to come to fruition in a big, and more than likely positive, way! So get yourself mentally ready. Once those 8 rods hit the ground, you’ll have to hit the ground running! But, for the moment, waiting is all you can do!

Things have been set in motion, and are nearing completion or fruition. News is coming, answers are being given. Consider if you are ready for the next steps, and if you’re not, it’s time to get ready.

Reversed:

Things will remain up in the air for a while longer.  That doesn’t mean there is no movement, it just means the questions, requests, works sent out into the Universe are still in motion.  Decisions or work beyond your control continues to happen.  So relax, and know when the time is right, the answers will come.

9 of Wands

Key concepts:

Perseverance, defensiveness, vigilance, self-protection, survival

Upright:

Once you’re battle worn and survived, it’s difficult not to continue to be defensive and cynical. Sometimes it’s even warranted. Just be careful that the barricades you continue to fortify aren’t keeping you from the peace that could be had if you lowered them.

Reversed:

Feeling safe and secure is something we all generally long for.  Sometimes, though, we need to experience being a little out of control.  We need to reconsider things we thought were long ago handled, or buried.  And sometimes, we need to throw caution and defensiveness to the wind, and allow something new, untried, or unexpected into our lives.  Consider which of these scenarios need to be a part of your day, and then open yourself to it.

10 of Wands

Key concepts:

Burdens, martyrdom, unclear path, workaholic,

Upright:

The harvest has been good & lessons have been learned. Hard work has become the norm, & though not a bad thing, has become too much of a good thing. Responsibilities weigh heavily now. No one can do it like you can. No time to rest. Wrong. If you don’t stop, you’ll keep plodding along until you hate your life because you’ve lost the ability to play and you’ll lose sight of the golden future.

The 10 of Wands also suggests that old habits are very, very hard to break. We have a tendency to hold very tightly to what is familiar, sometimes so much so that we can’t see the detriment it’s causing. We can be so blinded by it we can’t even see where we’re going anymore because we’re so steeped in habit, or the daily rut. So, if you’re willing, have a look around today and see if you can find one, just one, place where you need to lay down an old habit, or a cumbersome burden. See if you can figure out a plan through which you can let it go…

Reversed:

Though the burden has been laid down, or removed, there is still a danger that it will be picked up again.  Or, that you’ll find a new burden to replace the old one.  Enjoy the release.  Breathe.

Page of Wands

Key concepts:

Communicative, Adventurous, energetic, vitality, a show-off, quick communications (phone, email, text). News about a new project

Upright:

This is a card that indicates we’re full of potential and new ideas. It’s also a card that says the decisions made right now are pivotal to our destiny… for better or worse, so let’s think carefully before we communicate our desires/creative intentions to source. We might just get what we’re asking for!!

Reversed:

Unexpected negative or difficult messages tend to shake us up.  And sometimes they hover around our self-image tarnishing it and leaving us feeling awful! Delays in advancing our goals can do the same thing. So, today, get focused and decisive – then if negativity rules, you’ll be in a place to handle it without too much damage, especially if you’re diplomatic in the communication department.

Knight of Wands

Key concepts:

Stylish, Confident, Loyal, Eternal Optimism, Passionate/Hot-blooded, Restlessness, optimistic, ambitious, independent

Upright:

Communication, spiritual growth, positivity, playfulness, assertion, completion, fruition. You know where you need to be. It’s time to be assertive, decisive and do what it takes do get there. Anything less just isn’t really acceptable anymore. And guess what? It’s going to be easier and more fun than you think.

Reversed:

We all have those superficial and cocky moments, when we react in less than becoming ways.  We let our tempers rise and lash out in spite of ourselves.  Where are you allowing that behavior in yourself?  Or in others?  Why are you allowing yourself to think either is okay?

Queen of Wands

Key concepts:

Charismatic, Faithful, Cheerful, Power of attraction, Strong faith based convictions, Intuitive, Ambition

Upright:

She asks us to embody our inner charmer, show our self-confidence and happiness, and use our intuition and practicality to get things done. Creative energies coupled with passion abound – time to start planting the seeds that will manifest with loving nurturing care.

Reversed:

If you let them, pettiness, bitterness and narrow mindedness can become stumbling blocks created by you for others, or others for you. Be the solution today, not the problem.

King of Wands

Key concepts:

Inspiring, Theatrical, Risk Taker, Spiritual Instructor, Intuitive Intelligence, Ambition

Upright:

This king asks us to be passionate about harmony. He asks us to draw on our visionary abilities, but while utilizing our listening skills. He wants us to be fiery when needed, but ultimately, work toward the common good.

It’s time to apply all that energy to your vision of the future, then the goals to get there. Unify your thoughts and ambitions. Don’t waste time being active for the sake of activity. Perhaps enlist the help of a man who is passionate about the same things you are.

Creative passion and charisma are heightened! Got a new idea that you’re on fire about? The King of Wands says, Move forward, garner support! Obstacles are more perceived rather than real.

What have you all fired up? Have you mastered the things that you’re passionate about?

Reversed:

There are many things we can get all fired up about, and then when the initial excitement is gone, so is our passion. Burning hot and quick isn’t always the best route to take.

When this king is reversed, he asks us to look at where we’re feeling disconnected, and where the weight of responsibility has become too great, or comes with too high of a price. Our expectations of what we can handle, and what we can actually do may be two very different things. When this happens, sometimes our personalities will also take a turn for the worst.

What are expending your passion on that isn’t sustainable?

Are there undesirable aspects of your personality showing through?

Where are you feeling weight down?  Is there a constructive way to ease the load?
